Ten By Fotolia - Season 2 - featuring Mike Harrison
DC5Q: A BRIEF CONVO WITH MIKE HARRISON

Mmmmmmike Harrison, the international man of mystery (not really, but if you’ve noticed, we like to start these off with silly, unrelated metaphors). We were able to catch up with this guy in this month’s feature.
DC5Q: So Mikey mike, how’s it going?
MH: It’s going great thanks. I’m really enjoying my new job, the latest dc chapter has come out and i’m looking forward to the weekend and getting sloshed. I’ve also recently acquired myself a new car, and as a bit of a petrol head all I want to do is drive it around all the time in an attempt to revive my inner ‘boy racer’.
DC5Q: If our memory serves us correctly, you recently made the transition from working freelance full-time to working full-time in a design studio. Won’t you tell us more?
MH: That’s right. During the end of 2012 I was having some thoughts about returning to fulltime studio/agency work. Then early in 2013 after some more thought I decided to take the leap and was looking for a job for about a month until I secured a role at Stereo in London, working on anything from digital, print, web and branding projects.
The reason I wanted to make the change was because I really missed working alongside other creative people, I also wanted a big change in my life and more stability and security. I really enjoyed the freelance lifestyle but what is life without these changes….boring.
DC5Q: Any upcoming projects that you particularly excited about that you could share with us?
MH: One project i’m very excited about is being involved in Season 2 of Fotolia’s TEN Project. An artist gets showcased each month, so in May the film about me and my work is released alongside my creation and the full PSD free for 24 hours. Get it while it’s hot people.
I’m also planning to release a new portfolio with some new work on at the beginning of May, which i’ve designed and am building myself. [However], having a fulltime job leaves little time for it, well with that and my daily Pilates classes…
DC5Q: Being the avid traveler that you are, what are some places that you’d like to visit but haven’t been to yet?
MH: I was really hoping to go back to thailand for a 3rd time this year, I haven’t planned it out yet or anything, it’s just on my wish list at the moment. But other countries i’d really love to visit are Brasil, Peru or Chile. That area of south america really interests me. I’ve travelled around Argentina before and it was amazing, a return trip to S.America is well on the cards next year I think.
Oh i’d also love to come hang out at your house Kerv, can we arrange that?
DC5Q: He might take you up on that offer…for a price. Lastly, if you and your brother, Pete Harrison, got into a boxing match, who would win and, more importantly, can we have the pleasure of actually seeing this in the ring!?
MH: Well, as some of you may know, and some may not, pete has dislocated his shoulder god knows how many times, so i’d have an unfair advantage over him, that is, unless I had a dislocation sesh a week before the match, to even things up.
So unfortunately the only battle you’ll be seeing from me and Pete is within the boundaries of a Photoshop canvas!
